shareI did some digging there apparently were not well-received cuts of Dunkirk according to Lee Smith. I guess the take away from this is that it’s not the final cut of the movie. This post seems to imply this.

Pacing, organized planning, and good timing of key scenes is 100% editing. Presentation has a big impact.
It's like a joke... The best joke in the world can be told poorly, becoming bad and unfunny. The punchline can be spoiled, part of the setup can be forgotten, the joke can be a disorganized mess that the joke teller stumbles through, the timing of the punchline can be way off.
Or, a great joke teller can deliver a normal, non-joke sentence in such a way as to make it hilarious.
