Did they cheat by using "Butterfly" by Crazy Town?

Towards the end of the second season premiere, CB starts singing "Butterfly". The problem is that "Butterfly" by Crazy Town was released in November 2000:

And you can't just use the argument that it's "'90 something" since they made it look like "Dangerous Minds" (which was released in 1995) came out around same time as "American Pie" (which was released in 1999).
