For those up-to-date

I came to this series a couple of months after it started airing, so I've been watching it On Demand and have finished 4 or 5 episodes. For those of you who are all caught up with the episodes I have some questions: (1) Do any cases carry over from one episode to another? So far at the end of each episode the cases are over. (2) Do they use flashbacks of the lead's childhood in almost every episode? (3) Are the story lines for the minor characters being developed? I'm just trying to decide whether I want to continue or not. I don't dislike the series (actually I really like the lead) but many of the minor characters don't interest me. And I haven't been that involved in the individual cases. I'm trying to get caught up with a number of series; so not sure if I'll continue with this one. Thoughts?

(1) No. The cases are finished in that episode.
(2) The flashbacks of a young Shaun have stopped, but that doesn't mean we won't see anymore. I know the Mid Season Finale is this coming Monday and I have feeling we might see another one.
(3) Who do you consider to be a minor character? For the most part, it's about Shaun, Claire and their attending Neil. I mean they have the most stories. I get confused of who is a "lead" because they will be involved and then not really, like Jared. I find him unlikable, maybe because he's around sometimes and then he's sidelined. Glassman's story is usually circled around Shaun, and the others come and go.

With 9 episodes in, I like it. I really enjoyed Episode 8 "Apple"

Thanks. For me, up until now Claire has no backstory except that she's been sleeping with Jared; his story is that he does not have a great bedside manner with patients; and Neil keeps relegating Shaun to the side. I'm sure that'll change over the next episodes. I might just skip to the current episode and continue from there.

Without giving too much away..

Claire has something big happen that "questions" herself as a doctor.

Neil starts to actually teach/work with Shaun.
