the way conservatives overblew this movie for being "too woke" was hilarious and a staple of 2019 internet culture. they showed that basically anything with a female/minority character was automatically leftist propaganda to them. great stuff.
To go into your point, I also vividly recall people shitting on Salvation for not having Arnold. "No Arnold? No Terminator!" This and the film being PG-13 were the two biggest complaints I heard the most often. But then this one has Arnold, and the majority of people were mad that he's in it! Because he was "too old". Really hypocritical.
