Yeah, I agree about having something smaller (assuming anything is done at all). I feel similarly, actually, about things such as TV shows that just get bigger, more extravagant, and more action-packed with each new season. A series like The Walking Dead comes instantly to mind, where we got to the point that it was brimming with so many characters that I could barely keep track, and where every episode appeared to be either trying to be epic or was leading up to something epic. When, really, I think I'd have enjoyed the show much better if it was just back to a slow-pace story about a small group of well-defined characters trying to survive and get along in a farmhouse or something. A large spectacle doesn't really do much for me if I've not been made to care about the situation or the characters beforehand.
