If you ignore the wokeness it's not a bad movie
As long as you don't expect it to be on the level of T1&2.
shareAs long as you don't expect it to be on the level of T1&2.
shareI hope you're right.
I just got to the part where she said "My metabolism is tuned for short, intense bursts. You either stop a Terminator in the first few minutes, or you're dead."
Except of course when you have to outrun a Terminator over an extended period of time, which we've seen in.. let me think.. every single Terminator movie made thus far.
In fact, I'm not sure we've ever seen a Terminator terminate it's target, until the first 3 minutes of this movie.
You can't compare previous Terminators to the REV9.
For a start, this is no longer Skynet, its Legion.
In every single encounter i've just seen, the REV9 is trying to kill its target, yes it throws some people around that get in its way, but actual threats, its killing them, and every time it gets near Dani, its trying to kill her.
I don't watch much TV, hadn't seen the trailers, really not much idea what to expect at all, and...I thought it was surprisingly good. The acting was great, the action was incredible...seemed like there was shot after shot that I'd called "Woah" shots. Just...woah! Need to rewind a few seconds and watch that again.
And being a man of habit, I went to IMDB after it was over, all of five minutes ago now, to see a pretty dismal 6.4 rating. And clicking on the reviews reveals a whole lot of complaining about "woke", being a "woke failure".
What exactly was "woke" about this movie? The lack of a male lead? Is that all it takes? Or is it possible that there's just a whole lot more pedantic man-babies than you'd think, because this Terminator was so far above the last couple that a 6.4 just doesn't fit. Obviously. But sure enough...there's the crying in the reviews, and I understood.
Because see, personally? I forgot to pay attention to the gender of the roles on account of just hoping to watch a good movie. Is what the deal was. I just fucken forgot to stay tuned in for an opportunity to find outrage and vent my petty bullshit in a review bomb for a movie that...yeah, it just ended up distracting me with being entertaining and all. Probably on account of it being fucking ENTERTAINMENT, and not something that warrants even a fraction of the energy these people put into being upset about it. These people's ancestors would mock them mercilessly for having the time for such silly distractions, let alone the inclination.
That being said, the Ghostbusters remake was fucking horrible...it deserved the score. But this situation here is offensive only to the people that worked their asses off on a movie only to have a bunch of bitchcakes riddle it with ones and twos to drive the rating down. Every one of these people should be forced to sit through a movie that actually deserves a one or two and be reminded just how godawful movies can be. Rating this movie worse than some garbage student film, what a bunch of whiny little narcissistic assholes they are.
LOVE YOUR POST..MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY..WITH THE SMALL EXCEPTION OF KATE MCKINNON IN GHOSTBUSTERS,BUT THAT MIGHT BE BECAUSE I WANT TO MOUNT HER.
shareDude....same! That woman is sexy as hell, right? And its almost like she tries to hide it, but she's got a banging body...great legs. Yeah, petite blond haired, blue-eyed...it'd be interesting to see her dolled up sometime...somehow.
sharethere was not a single "woah" shot for me. not a single visual idea that stood out, anything has been done before in a better way. the action scenes were a mess, from a visual / editing point of view. too fast cutting, camera crossing the line all over, interrupted by uncessary close up insert shots. the second half of the movie was too dark and fuzzy.
shareThat's too bad. Always sucks to sit through a movie that wasn't any good.
shareAre you kidding? A terminator that grew a conscience, got married, and bought a bbq grill. Thats good to you? This movie is fkn stupid!
shareThe Terminator's "dreadness" has already been watered down in previous sequels (he was a good guy in T2, wore Elton John's glasses in T3 and "pops" in TG), so this doesn't bother as much. Furthermore Carl is just a small part of the movie. Overall it has very good action, never gets boring and it's an enjoyable popcorn flick as long as you don't expect it to be on the level of T1 or T2.
shareWhat you're griping about is the filmmakers attempts at trying to shoe-horn Arnold into a movie where he doesn't belong anymore. Yeah it was weird, but the goofiness of it was very much played down from his role in the last couple of films. I mean, you're right...it was at LEAST a stretch, if not outright stupid, but to hate on the entire movie for it when it was a notable step up from the cringe-worthiness of the last couple, seems a little unfair.
I wish they'd just let Arnold retire already. Having to come up with ways in which he's still relevant to the story...its made these movies worse than they've had to be, IMO. Him being called pops, trying to smile...the "cutesiness" of the last movie in particular...come on. Lets move on from Arnold already, jesus criminy.
...just like having sex with a pre op tranny...this movie exists because of the wokeness you can't ignore it they had no real reason to make it,TG flopped in US and this was made just for the shake of woke propaganda THANK GOD IT FLOPPED HARD
shareYes it was ok, nothing to be upset about and it now goes into my Terminator folder with the others to be watched at least once a year when I get time. It’s just a movie.
Maybe being outside the US I don’t really identify the woke culture outrage like some people do.
I think for it's first hour until Arnie appears, it's actually a pretty damn good movie. But once Arnie appears, it just falls apart for me and instead of doing something new, they go back to same well once again.
I really liked Mackenzie Davis was very good, that woman has the potential to be a action star. Linda Hamilton was great as well. Thought the villain was solid. I didn't think Nathalia Reyes was great as Dani, it needed someone more charismatic in the role. Maybe it's just me but I have a feeling probably in early drafts of the script that Dani and Grace were partner's, would have made it interesting spin on the Terminator 1 love story with Kyle and Sarah, that Grace went back to save her girlfriend. I have a feeling they probably left that out cause of the Chinese market.
Some nice action sequences and again the first hour was very good. But the last hour it really fell apart. I definitely have it over Genisys and T3 in terms of the films after T1 and T2, at least it was bloody and violent and Mackenzie Davis was a interesting addition. I think 6.4 on Imdb is fair enough score.
I thought Arnie was the only half decent thing about it. Silly chick flick until he appeared.
shareI'm looking forward to it.
Never saw it in theaters. Read it sucks (but heard from nobody who saw it).
