The team would of won the national championship, maybe become world champions. Glad the Canadians made it more realistic

shareI liked the movie. It was fine for what it intended to be. A sort of “after school special” about a fish out of water helping his adopted community and learning something in return. It was basically a real life Northern Exposure with Joel Fleischman being a coach instead of a doctor. I was reading about the “based on a true story” you mentioned and very sad to read that the actress who played Miranda, the team’s student-manager, was murdered in Kugluktuk in 2021. They caught the guy who did it but, it’s pretty sad legacy for the film.
shareI had not heard about the girl getting murdered. That is quite sad, but I have heard that native populations have a higher rate of violence against women than you find in many other groups, so unfortunately that seems consistent with other stories. I think, if I understand correctly, there is even an epidemic of girls going missing on reservations.
