TO watch boruto...
What do I need to watch first, to fully understand boruto?
I have watched all the naruto and naruto shippuden episodes, but do
I need to watch some of the movies?

Be ready for a thousand filler episodes

Sigh. I rewatched all of Naruto & its films and Shippuuden & its films before Boruto. I'm in episode 34 now and I feel like I'm watching filler episodes upon filler episodes. Unlike Naruto where something interesting happens in the very 1st ep. The show seems to be targeted at a much younger audience, ages 6-9 whereas Naruto was for 13 and older.
Also it starts when they're in their 1st year at the academy at 12. Whereas Naruto and co all graduated at 12. The soundtrack and musical score so far sucks, unlike Naruto that had the best anime soundtrack and score I've ever heard.
Boruto also seems to deem himself too good to wear the Uzumaki clan sigil unlike both Sarada and Sakura who take up the Uchiha clan sigil on their clothes. They also made Iruka look too old when he should be even younger than kakashi. I feel like the creator of thia show wants to dump on Naruto and all the original characters to elevate the Boruto characters. We will see if it improves.
Example of a canon episode that's basically a filler episode, an episode on a teacher parent conference. How exciting!
One last thing, Boruto as a show will also age badly. Aside from everything else I mentioned, this show introduces technology from our world to their world. So the tvs, the computers, the portable games, etc are all reflections of our world since the show was started. All of which, will look dated in 10-20 years unlike Naruto that creates its own fantasy world where 21st century technology is virtually nonexistent. So Naruto will live on while Boruto will look stale within 10years.
