Inventive, Single Location Sci-Fi

I'm always impressed by movies set in a single location that manage to hold a viewer's interest. Like Buried (2010), this one takes place in very confined space so the filmmakers have to get creative with angles, conversations, and plot points. It helps when you have a charismatic lead. Ryan Reynolds was excellent in Buried and Melanie Laurent is just as good in this.

Alexandre Aja usually works in horror (his 2006 The Hills Have Eyes remake was terrifying), so I wasn't sure what to expect from his move into Sci-Fi, but was pleasantly surprised. They started filming in July 2020 so this was an ideal production for coronatimes (mostly one set and one actress).

Nice touch at the end when Liz apologizes to Milo...who seemed a tad nicer than HAL.

Good comparison with Buried, both great and inventive movies.

I find that movies which make the most out of very small sets and budgets tend to end up being really good. Another two which come to mind are Moon, The Descent and Cube.

Those are all good examples. When filmmakers only have one location they have to put a lot more thought into how to keep things interesting. Another good recent single location movie is Burn (set in a convenience store).

Burn was good, I watched it. Thanks for the recommendation. The psychological aspect it was particularly interesting, it was like we should root for Melinda yet she was clearly someone you should avoid also.
