A+E obviously has Scientologists

They made sure every scene had a bs disclaimer saying the next segment is a lie. Wonder how far reaching the cult of Scientology reaches.

They did this to avoid lawsuits.

Necessary legal disclaimers. If they had scientologists, I doubt you'd see this at all,

Exactly.

Exactly. The church is notoriously sue-happy. I know when HBO did "Going Clear" they had something like 100 attorneys to help them NOT get sued for the documentary. Hell, Scientology sued the IRS hence how they got their tax-exempt status.

I don`t think so... I think it was very tactical on A&E`s part - who knows though, maybe tactics weren`t involved, maybe they are covering their bases against an impending lawsuit.... Either way, I think it was smart to put it in every segment.
I mean, when I see a continuous disclaimer thrown at me like that, it immediately makes me question the people behind the message - Why do they have to say it so often?? What are they afraid of?? What are they hiding??
I mean, the more letters they send, and the more disclaimers they put up (Scientology, A&E, whoever.) will goes against the thing that`s talked about, in this case, it`s Scientology... and that`s great!

A&E would be sued if they did not put that message up. Good thinking on the network's part.

Nope. Some segments following commercial breaks opened with a message that the "church" disagreed or disavowed or blah blah...standard legal boilerplate stuff (IANAL). Just covering their butts, and wise considering Scientology's history of frightful abuses of the legal system.

OK, it's Leah Remini, whose main claim to fame is a popular but insipid sitcom. Also, she really pours on the pathos in some of these scenes - sure glad she learned how to cry on cue in all those acting classes. Snark aside, I'm enjoying the series immensely. There's nothing presented that I didn't already know - I've been following this scene since late 2007 and first protested with anonymous in 2009. But Remini's fan base and A&E's core viewership are whole new audiences for this tragic tale. Word is spreading, and if even one person is dissuaded from joining, if even one person is convinced to blow, well...

Bravo, Remini!

Do you remember the mermaid "documentary?" If they had put that disclaimer up between each break then I would not have had to convince dummies that mermaids did not, in fact, really exist.
