Where do they live?

From listening to John Duignan and Astra Woodcraft on YouTube I gather this:

Duignan was based at that iconic big blue building in Los Angeles, where junior Sea Org members are stuffed into tiny rooms, with two or three bunk beds that are three beds high. Limited shower facilities.

In Clearwater Florida, Woodcraft reports being put up in seedy, roach infested motels, with several people to a room. That beautiful building you see in Clearwater (Flag) is most likely too much of a cash cow to let Sea Org members live there. It's a hotel for parishioners who come there to get fleeced while working on higher levels than offered by their local "church".

The truth is that people at the very top of the Sea Org live lavishly, particularly Miscavige. He wants for nothing, be it the finest homes, offices, clothes, food, transportation, entertainment, whatever. He lives like a king. Perhaps a handful of people under him live very well, but that could be revoked at any time by Miscavige. Everyone else lives like a virtual slave, including very senior people. Even someone like Amy Scobee (I read her book) who was in a very senior position (Watchdog committee) lived far from a lavish lifestyle, overworked and IIRC sharing a two bedroom apartment near the International Base in Hemet. Buses would come to take them to work.

Edited to add: You asked about "practicing Scientologists". It is important to note the three basic groups of Scientologists: The public Scientologists ("parishioners"), staff members, and the Sea Org. The public are the ones who pay their own way, have their own lives and homes, and probably know little to nothing about the lives of Sea Org members. The staff are people who work at the various "Orgs" ("churches") in exchange for some services (although they are so overworked they rarely, if ever, get the benefit of that bargain), and finally the Sea Org, the people who control and run Scientology.
