No mention of J-Lo?

I found it interesting that on the first episode of this series, when she was talking about Tom Cruise's wedding, there was no mention at all about Jennifer Lopez. Leah went into pretty great detail in her book about the whole wedding and how J-Lo was invited because the cult wanted to try to recruit her, and how they kept trying to separate Leah from J-Lo during the whole wedding and reception so that they could work on recruiting J-Lo.

So I found it interesting that Leah didn't even mention that J-Lo was there at Tom Cruise's wedding when she was talking about it on this show. Maybe J-Lo told her not to? Which again is interesting since she had no problem writing about it in her book, but now didn't mention it on her show. You would think that would be a significant point to mention on the show - that the cult tries to use stars to recruit other stars, and how they used Leah to try to get to one of the biggest stars in the world - Jennifer Lopez.

I know that she and Lopez are close friends so she would have asked Lopez permission before putting it in the book. Maybe, for the sake of time, she only gave an overview of what happened at the wedding. Mostly I think because this show is really focusing on the horrible experiences ex Scientologists had before leaving the organization. Remini said she didn't know bad things were happening.

I feel like it would stray away from the main point of her telling that story. She was describing when she questioned David's wife not being there and how it seemed like some cover up by the church.

The Tom Cruise wedding chapter was my favorite part of the book! Total insanity!!

She isn't focusing on the celebrity aspect here. She wants to focus on regular people who were sucked in to being involved, and to expose the bad things that were actually witnessed or participated in these activities by formerly high ranking people in the "church". Her goal with this show is to warn people away from getting involved. The "church" uses famous people as recruitment tools because they know how ordinary people worship celebrities. So showing regular people on her show that got involved and got royally screwed over, that would be a lot more impactful than seeing a famous person go through that same thing. If it can happen to Joe Average then it can happen to me, too.
