You seem to only be looking at the actual charity that religions engage in, such as free Christmas dinners, children's hospitals, and so on. Yes, that is small compared to the harm they've done over the years.
But, where the good comes in is for the individual. All human beings need something to believe in and something to guide them. For some, it's hard work and their family. For others, it's the need to help other people or change the environment.
But, for most people, they need religion. Religion gives them hope and it gives them rules to live by. Without religion, people would live like animals and steal and kill indiscriminately. Religion tells them that they will be punished for all of their sins and so they try not commit very many. Religion has, thus, given us civilization, despite a laundry list of bad things done in the name of religion.
