Does anyone remember anything about Nicole and Tom's divorce and what happened regarding the custody of their kids? Of course, not everything was reported and what was would be suspect as far as crediblility, but I always thought it odd that Nicole didn't get shared custody of the kids. I remember reports of her seeing or not seeing the kids. Even if the church made them disconnect from Nicole, I don't see how they could get the courts to not give her some rights. Unless, Tom and/or the church greased the palms of a judge. I don't even want to think that Nicole was paid off.

Wow. I did not know that the son had done movies. And I read a lot of entertainment stuff. I've never run across anything about those kids since Nicole and Tom split.

Well, what you can do is fight for them. I know they were older than Suri, but Katie didn't have a problem keeping her.

I know there is probably a lot more to what happened that we'll never know, but it bothers me since I really like Nicole.

Don't be so judgemental. The kids are, like *everyone* in Tom Cruise's orbit, entirely under Scientology control. They've been told Nicole is an SP (or maybe a "potential trouble source"), and there is nothing she can do about that.

The brats' choice would be Nicole on the one hand, or their dad, Aunt LeeAnn, and every other relative and Scientologist family friend they know -- virtually everyone they grew up with. They would have to give up a lot to get closer to Nicole. She knows that.

If you've watched the series, especially the episode on disconnection, you should understand that. Don't judge Nicole Kidman harshly; reserve your harsh judgment for the control freak she had the misfortune of in the early '90s.

I don't really understand either but I'm guessing Nicole knew her kids would hate if she had.

The ep with the twin it made it seem like if a parishioner left quietly they wouldn't declare them an SP and make families disconnect. I have read articles where Nicole K is very careful NOT to say anything negative about Scientology because both of her kids are still in the church.

You can't compare Nicole and Katie's situations. Katie actually learned from what happened to Nicole. Katie kept everything secret until she was ready to blow. With the help of her divorce lawyer dad, Katie was able to set up a situation that was favorable to getting custody, before asking for a divorce. By that point, the church could do nothing because Katie had set up a separate residence in New York while Tom was away filming. Katie was able to use this leverage to make demands that her daughter not be exposed to Scientology. The church had no choice to agree, as an ugly public custody battle would reveal many unfavorable church secrets. Nicole did this backwards and because of that, the church was able to infiltrate her kids and get to her kids before she was able to separate from Tom. Katie even had burner phones to keep the church minders from tracking her.

Oh yes he did.....and he dropped it on Nicole cold. But for that, might actually feel sorry for him about what Katie did. As is, he doesn't have a stone to throw on that one.

Have you seen Going Clear? Former No 2 Marty Rathbun admits to auditing Cruise to find out personal secrets as well as using it to influence Cruise into believing that Nicole was an SP because the church didn't like the fact that her father was a renown psychologist and they're the enemy of Scientology.

CoS initiated the whole divorce because they were worried Nicole would influence Tom to leave because he'd been growing a bit distant to the church, so they dug up every inch of dirt on her they could find, wire tapped her house, and essentially convinced Cruise to divorce her so he could be with someone more easily controlled.

You must watch Going Clear, it's so good. Nicole managed to keep Tom away for some years! They said that this was driving DM nuts and he did everything to get him back.

They also didn't like Penelope Cruz because she didn't want to give up her Buddhist beliefs.

I agree. But pondering on it, Nicole was probably not as aware as Katie was to what may happen to her. She was probably very much in love with Cruise and wanted to salvage the relationship & him as well as the children. Katie probably knew that there was no way to salvage Cruise (but there was away to save Suri), at least from her perspective & influence, & had a strong support system from her family to protect and coach her unlike Nicole.

They have all her audit tapes to embarass and/or balckmail her with as well as having her children still there. She's not to be blamed it's Tom and the "church" who held/hold all the cards.
