I read in a recap with the showrunner that Sheldon called and made up with him off-screen shortly after the librarian from school stayed at their house.

I saw that in a rerun. I must have spaced it out, that they reconciled.
They did a good job with the BBT finale/crossover, when Sturgis was finally coming to grips with his "failure" that
he would never win the Nobel, but he says: I bet Sheldon will.
