Morgan Freeman VP -> President? What Happened to Archer?
Did I just miss this at the beginning, or did they explain why Archer is no longer President and Freeman took over? If not, that's just bad writing.

shareAs far as I remember, they never mentioned it. I think it's bad writing. I remember when I watched the movie, I was hoping that Mike was going to visit Archer and hide there but instead, he went to his father's cabin!
A simple line about Archer's disappearance would have been appreciated.
It can easily be inferred that Archer completed his term. Trumbull won an election and is now president. Not at all an unusual situation. Especially since Archer likely had a immense amount of sympathy from the two previous "has fallen" films. Trumbull also likely enjoyed a great amount of sympathy and support from his actions during those crises.
shareThey did an interview where they explained this. Eckhart was offered a part but declined it.
shareNo need to explain. Just like in real life, a president has his term up. Another won the election. Did I need an explanation when Trump was elected? No. Probably Trump wins next election, or he loses. That is life.
Why should that be explained? New POTUS. It happens a lot in this country.
