Casting Hugh Grant as an Oompa Loompa...
...is depriving midget actors of work.
Discuss.
It's been discussed. The midgets were bitching months ago about this.
shareHe was playing an Oompa Loompa, a fictional character in a fantasy movie. He wasn't portraying Peter Dinklage. It literally could have been played by anyone, no matter their height. Hugh Grant's character was unnaturally tiny and he did mention that he was much smaller than the others of his kind. So even if they used an actor with dwarfism, they still would have used CGI to make him very small. I personally liked HG playing the Oompa Loompa. It was cute and funny. This is an unnecessary debate on a silly topic. Also, the term "midget" is also not used anymore. Just your comment alone is disrespectful. And the movie wasn't depriving anyone of anything. Think outside the box. It's a movie, a fictional fantasy movie.
shareLooks like the term "midget" is being used plenty.
Whether or not they are offended by it though, do you speak for them? Are you achondroplasic yourself?
