I think Simon Helberg, Howard from The Big Bang Theory, could've been a good choice, though probably now older than they'd have wanted

Helberg is a decent choice imo. But apart from the obvious choice of Jeremy Allen White? It really depends. If it was for this particular project, and it had to be an actor of a similar or the same age as Chalamet, then I'd probably choose Paul Mescal. If it could be anyone other than Mescal or White, regardless of age, then I'd probably pick Adam Driver.

I don't understand what you mean by that. Sounds a little violent, which is par for the course when it comes to Wonka, but how does that actually relate to the story?
