My problem with the ending (spoilers, duh)

I see two options.

1. Winston betrayed John Wick. Problem: that doesn't fit Winston's character. He's a man that lives by a code, a man that always does what's right. Of course, his idea of 'right' can include being cruel and cold-blooded. But I don't see how betraying Wick, a man he considers almost as a son, would make any sense. That would be out of character.

2. Winston didn't betray Wick, it was a hoax. That would be possible, but... problem: the hoax includes Wick falling for a 5 stories building.

Even in John Wick's fantasy universe falling from a building would surely kill you. Wick survived, because of plot armor, and we'll have Wick 4. But characters can't count on plot armor, they don't know they're characters in a franchise (unless you're Deadpool).

None of both makes any sense. I guess they included that fall because, hadn't it been included, it would be too obvious it was a hoax. I think they made it worse, though.

Also the fall looked like cheap CGI.

WINSTON KNEW THE AWNING WAS THERE AND WOULD BREAK HIS FALL.

Remember the end of the 2nd movie? Where every homeless person in New York turns out to be an assassin on downtime? Wick is fleeing as cell phones across NYC light up with the news of the bounty on his head.

For me that was the point where the series went off the deep end into too-stupid-to-ignore territory.

I didn't pay to watch this one and the whole tone of this movie -- just one prolonged shot of Reeves arm bar / pistol strip / double-tapping a never ending row of killers broken up by short bursts of trivial dialogue topped off by that ridiculous ending means I probably won't even bother watching the next one.

They've run out of ideas for where to go with this...

Yeah. Really dissapointing indeed with the way the chose to expand the universe.

They unwisely took the "more lore" route by making the story more convoluted while keeping the actions pretty much the same. Which is a bad move I'd say.

They should've taken the Fast and Furious approach. Keep the story thin, but freshen up the action scenes by showing new bigger, better things. It worked extraordinarilly well.

What they need to do is by making each movie's story an episode in John Wick's life. Not by making one huge story arc that goes nowhere like it is now.

Basically each movie should have a goal (or a mission) and show how Mr.Wick achieved it using his trade mark hard hitting skills. Just like Fast and Furious. Or the Mission Impossible franchise. And along with that showing ever increasing creativity in the action scenes.

Instead they chose this Terminator approach with ever increasing convoluted stories and more and more characters, one more over-the-top than the last, while making less and less sense at the same time. Complete with seemingly stagnant creativity in the action and stunt department.

How did that work for Terminator huh?

JUST FINE...BILLIONS OF DOLLARS AND STILL MAKING THEM...

Not everything is about money.

DIDNT SAY IT WAS.HOWEVER...THAT IS THE CORRECT ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION.ALSO I ENJOY THE WICKS AND TERMINATORS AND DISAGREE WITH EVERY WORD YOU SAID...HAVE A NICE DAY.

Okay.

"What they need to do is by making each movie's story an episode in John Wick's life. Not by making one huge story arc that goes nowhere like it is now."

Agreed. I would be more interested in a series of stand alone adventure -- maybe only thinly connected a la the recent Bonds, or with recurring secondary characters like the F&F series -- than what they are doing.

If wick fell straight to the ground and landed on some garbage bags after sliding off the awning I could maybe buy that, but when he slides off the awning he rams into a metal balcony which look looked like it should've broke his back. Even by very small chance he didn't end up dead or paralyzed I would expect him to be in a hospital bed hooked up to a bunch of tubes, but he's simply delivered to Morpheus in a shopping cart and when asked if he's pissed off, he just say's "yea"

So John Wick is such a bad ass that a fall which would kill anyone else just made him more mad lol

The only other ways he could've survived the fall if his bulletproof suit is just way tougher than it looks, or he's some kind of mutant or genetically enhanced super soldier.

...or he's some kind of mutant or genetically enhanced super soldier.

A bad choice by the filmmakers if this is indeed canon.
