shareIt’s living up to the early positive buzz — it is getting tons of critical praise. ‘Matter of fact, some are declaring it the franchise’s best so far (it’s currently the highest rated John Wick film on RT). Awesome. But its great reviews aside, I just knew Stahelski and the gang were going to deliver yet another masterfully crafted, explosive, and grand action piece. Can’t say I expected anything less.
And if there ‘ s more installments in the future, right now it’s safe to say we have an action masterpiece trilogy on our hands (damn). Bring it!
I just saw this here in the UK. It’s definitely the best one yet and goes even further into the mythology of the franchise and the title character’s history. It’s also got some incredibly creative and choreographed action, a franchise best for sure, it goes way beyond the second movie in terms of ambition. It’s also very funny at times.
I hope they do a fourth film to break the convention of ‘everything has to be a trilogy’ although this also works as a franchise ending so I don’t mind either way. It’s an action masterpiece though, no doubt about it.
Chad Stahelski stated that a fourth film is on the way (he said it all mostly depends on 3’s success, so safe to say there’s more to come), and another installment obviously makes sense seeing as how 3 ends on a cliffhanger. Wick’s story is far from over.
And this is fantastic! As much as I like the idea of having a perfect trilogy rather than a franchise that maybe overstays its welcome (Keanu expressed something similar a while back - though he’s now saying he would like to make more Wick films), in this case a fourth John Wick is demanded. It’s not common for a third entry in a franchise to tease even more exciting things to come, but Parabellum perfectly sets up a fourth film.
I also couldn’t agree more about 3. I definitely went in expecting a high quality and tense film, and somehow it still managed to exceed my expectations! It’s so satisfyingly visceral, superbly crafted, and just stupendously entertaining. Really impressive, yet unsurprising, how they took things to another level with the choreography (action perfection) and overall execution.
