Looks as though you misspoke. After just 2 weeks, it's pulled in over $500 million. According to your math, it's already profited $43 million, with lots more to come. Disney gets to keep all their Endgame money after all.

Your math is faulty, but even with your silly pie-in-the-sky numbers Aladdin will still end up turning a profit. As will Dumbo. As will just about everything Disney puts out. That mouse lays golden eggs!

Do you realize that the entities that are the beneficiary of that largesse ARE making money? That is a lot of jobs and a lot of profit for a lot of people. Disney has a burgeoning cottage industry that is profiting from how they budget, expense, market and promote their films.
When Disney spends, somebody else is "Eating". That $100 Million or $150 Million or $200 Million is employing a lot of people producing a lot of content. Let's say Disney did what you are suggesting and that is cut their P&A and Distribution costs to some undefined barebone. Wouldn't that hit some downstream company really hard? So if Disney spent less on Marketing and Advertising wouldn't that hurt those businesses? Wouldn't Disney also see less ticket sales? Wouldn't Disney also reap less revenue and slow down even more revenue streams?
I'm not suggesting Disney is too 'Big to Fail' but your myopic and very narrow view of Disney animated film profitability based on ill-informed production and marketing expenses lacks a coherent "Endgame" or a more favorable business model. What say you on this point? share
