bad decisions (possible spoilers)
Watching it 2nd time around I couldn't help noticing the lead character exercising some poor judgement. For example, when he misses the alarm and his workmate tells him they've had to go with his pitch instead, he still goes to work anyway and tells them he overslept. He already knew he'd missed his moment with the pitch anyway, so why not say you were really sick and stay off work - not so much to skive (play hooky), more because it would make the workplace more sympathetic and generally look better than strolling in at midday saying you overslept for such an important event. (it would also have meant he'd get Riley out of his apartment that morning, but then I guess we wouldn't have much of a movie!).
And when he learns of Riley's "fake suicide" and she tells him her address, it's crazy that he doesn't call an ambulance for her.
Normally I'd say this kind of thing damages the movie's plausibility, but in this instance, I like it because it shows that this guy makes some poor, rash decisions, especially when under pressure, so it makes it all the more believable that he'd make an extremely big bad decision later on.
