Will this introduce hip hop into the movie?

'Usually' with black protagonist movies they like to show off hip hop or rap in them. Wonder if this will have that here.

Yet it's never a problem when a "white" movie has a soundtrack primarily featuring the same 70's/80's dad rock and/or 2000's soft rock songs. How many times do we have to hear the same REO Speedwagon, Cheap Trick, Sting, or J. Geils Band songs in EVERY Adam Sandler movie? Even if you like those guys, it's practically a cliche at this point to cut to the 70's dad rock song.

I dunno, it hits different with those old tracks and I don't think they're as prevalent for the purpose of just having a particular race in it. Maybe not in all instances but go watch a nearly all black cast or black protagonist and tell me one that doesn't have hip hop/rap in it.

Spiderverse, Black Panther, Creed to name a few.

I expect this movie to be full of big fat asses clapping.

Creed walks out to Tupac playing. So there's that

Thats because rock is music, unlike R.A.P.

I used to hate rap too until I actually gave it a chance. Plenty of fantastic hip-hop artists like Wu-Tang Clan, NAS, Notorious BIG, MF Doom, and newer guys like Kendrick Lamar and Tyler the Creator. I've have never been huge on that modern-day swag/trap rap that's huge amongst white frat dudes more than anyone. But there's equally as bad rock too. I'd rather listen to MF Doom for a year straight than one rotation of Nickelback's Dark Horse.

Theres plenty of bad in every genre, but in rap you have to really look for something to be good.

I have a mental image of what “Part of your World” would sound like in R&B. I kind of like it.

Yes it did, with Awkwafina...

reply

Yes it has a terrible rap song and some of the mermaids sag their pants in it.
