A Better Luthor

Luthor looks weak in the trailer.

Anyone else think this guy would have be better cast as Luthor:

The very fact that he was cast as Kingpin in the assorted Marvel TV series means he would never, not in a million years, would have been cast as the similar looking Lex Luthor. Neither James Gunn nor anyone else at DC/Warner Bros. would want to put up with constant stream of copycat accusations that would flow from that, and for that matter Vincent D'Onofrio very likely would have no interest in playing such a similar role; the last thing any actor wants is to be typecast, and this would be actively courting it.

reply

Luthor embodies power and D'Onofrio has that look of power.

reply

He could do it. But personally, I like what Gene Hackman did.

His Luthor was sinister, evil, powerful, yet very amusing at the same time.

The guy I thought could do it this way was the first guy (supposedly) Gunn was talking to - Bradley Cooper.

For whatever reason it didn't work out with Bradley.

D'onofrio, he'd probably play Lex as Kevin Spacey did.

Well time will tell - I thought Green Goblin looked ridiculous when I first saw a promo picture and that worked out pretty good.

reply

And they would still never have cast him, for the reasons I gave above. Especially since he's simply not the only actor who can radiate power and menace.

reply

Totally agree.

Not him because he played Kingpin but someone who looks like that.

Michael Cudlitz was a great choice on the Superman & Lois series:

Luthor needs to be physically intimidating like in the comics.

But they keep casting these weak looking actors.

reply

there was already an old ugly guy as luthor in supergirl and he was a terrible cringe actor on top of that, that dident worked

this movie was suppose to be called superboy. its like superman year one. and nicolas holt is not even that young, he was born 1989

reply

No because Gunn wants younger characters in this version. I'm impressed by what little of the acting I've seen in the trailers with the actors playing the main characters: Superman/Kent, Lois and Lex. Lex looks pi$$ed.

reply

Yes definitely! D'onofrio would make a great Luthor. Look what he did with Kingpin! He made me forget Michael Clark Duncan, and I like MCD?
