Why Mel Gibson doesn't want you to see his new movie

I don't know if this lead to fewer and poor reviews. Mel wanted to film at Oxford, increasing cost.

It all stems from a lengthy legal battle that started back in July 2017 when Gibson sued co-producers Voltage Pictures for "jeopardising" the movie.

He alleged that the company had failed to honour their co-production deal, which stated that things like the final budget, selection of filming locations and the finished version of the movie had to be agreed by Gibson and his company Icon.

It's unfortunate that this all went down the way it did because I watched what ended up being the final film today and it's actually pretty good. So if it's pretty good with all the problems it had, it probably would've been great if they could've all gotten their differences worked out and finished the movie properly.

I know this was a passion project for Mel, as the article says, so I hate that he didn't get to make the film exactly the way he wanted to. Maybe it would've been better for him to have simply budged and shot those scenes at Trinity College?

In any case, I enjoyed it and actually think it's one of the better films of 2019.

Voltage Pictures are the devil. They sue everyone.
