Wow, that was a heavy one

I was hoping there would be some comments here already. This doc keeps you on a low simmer the entire time, so that by the end I nearly found it hard to discern an opinion on anything right away. The accrued intensity of the story and the topics it touches on is laudable and also exhausting.

It’s well worth seeing, though. And especially if you are a fan of documentaries. While not a walk in the park, it’s expertly crafted in almost every way. I’m not sure about it’s IMDb score, which is a 6.5 right now (versus a meta critic score of 86), but the user score is perhaps simply a sign of the times. It should be mentioned, however, that if you are a white viewer, there are several moments when it doesn’t feel as if your whiteness is in any way appreciated. But, that’s a result of the story being told and the characters telling it— not something to take personally (or vote the movie down for).
