It looks like the usual Emmerich shite, over the top and totally CGI'd to fuck.

The film industry went from bad SFX to great SFX back to bad, again. Too many rush jobs.

That, the shift towards highest-quality-possible digital cameras and resolutions that hide all possible flaws in effects, and people who just aren't pros at the job are all causes for decreasing quality in CGI. Look at how the effects in Independence Day 2 were far worse than the effects from the first movie 20 years earlier.

The effects in the O.G. Independence Day weren't CGI.

Do you expect them to film on the moon? Can't get there. Kubrick's moon set is off limits at Nellis AFB Complex.
