so 2 episodes in....

I like it. I'm not really getting all the negativity about the show. In fact it seems like the only ones posting are the ones who dislike it. Maybe others are like me and have stopped coming by because 90% of the posts are negative.

So I'll give the board some time and hopefully we get some good discussions going and not have to wade through so much hater stuff.

The second episode, in my opinion, was much much better than the first. I enjoyed it. I plan to watch at least a couple of more episodes before I decide if I will keep watching. I like Michael Weatherly but still see him as Tony. Maybe that will change in time.

It will be the team characters that will make or break this series. I am already seeing signs of the series going in several directions with there back stories. I absolutely love his right hand gal. I think they will nap them up a bit but as it sits know I hope she becomes the next Tony... No pun intended.

reply

It should have typed out the word amp instead of nap, darn phones.

reply

On a shallow note her professional wardrobe it awesome. I also like that they are playing it as straight up friends and colleagues with no underlying sexual tension and no trying to one up each other.

reply

If it's one thing that won't sit well with the holdovers from ncis is dating a co-worker I am sure they are aware of this. I don't see any of them hooking up with each other. Besides the job they appear to have nothing in common.

reply

I like the supporting cast so far. I really like Marissa and Benny in particular. They are interesting and I think will be more so as time goes on. Not sure yet
about Chunk and Cable. For some reason the names don't fit. I can't think of the ex cop's name but I do like her. She's a beauty!

I really don't see Tony much at all but I do think I see MW peeking through. LOL

I'm really enjoying it. It isn't everything I expected, but I'm loving the direction and tone they are taking. I'm looking forward to getting to know the entire team more.

I'm kinda fascinated by the negativity: We have the people who think Phil is the son of Satan, so anything attached to him is evil by association (so far, I've seen him compared to both OJ and Cosby, which is boggling), we have the people who are disgusted by the mere thought of trial consultants, the people who expect this one show to adhere to strict guidelines of reality (and, yet who watch zombie shows, serials, and other procedurals without a whimper), and then there are the people who can't grace any board without being emotional vampires - feeding off the negativity they create. I've tried dicussing with some of them but they are bound and determined to be miserable and take everyone down with them. THANK GOODNESS I don't live like that! You gotta wonder what about Bull is so threatening to them. LOL

Hopefully, many of them will tire of batting this show around and go back to their zombies. I have a really nice facebook group of Bull fans, https://www.facebook.com/groups/941532685954182/, if anyone is interested. 

Not really. I hope I don't sidetrack the thread, but what you say reminds me a lot of Joe Paterno. He witnessed a terrible act, then did the correct thing of notifying the officials at the school who told him they would handle it. Instead they covered it up, and now people act like Paterno was the one who raped the minor and he's been punished worse than Sandusky who actually did the act and the school officials who covered it up barely got a mention. That's the way the public is.

I'm kinda fascinated by how you process the perceived negativity.

You don't mention a single objectively rationale criticism has ever been written on the board. Yet that is the majority of the non-favorable posts. So you put forth a literally insane perspective, because it means you aren't processing reality properly.

reply

the show is a bit clunky ! just needs to be less confusing !

reply

Clunky is a good description.

I think the problem is the pieces are promising, but the writing is so clichéd, politically correct, and not detailed enough to fulfill the promise.

Is it? Hunh... I must have missed that between the vilifying of Dr Phil, the slamming of the show before it ever aired for specious reasons, the insistence that the show meet standards rarely held to other shows, and the digs at things that didn't even happen on the show. Even more pathetic, the people who insist they are not pissing all over it, who have done nothing but slam it on more than one board for months. After a point, my eyes glaze over from the insistent negativity against the show and the obsession to dogpile it and anyone who enjoys it. 

Sorry, if I missed something actually constructive - some of us actually know what a back button is and how to use it. I agree it has points which could use improvement, just like any other show, but seriously, some people need to get a grip if its mere existence in CBS' lineup troubles them so much.

Apology accepted. 

Yes, some people need to get a grip. 

They do remarkably well with avoiding the tension and emotion until juuust the right moment in their episodes. And it's refreshingly very well acted and poignant when done. It's also rather intelligent..

I wasn't sure I'd like it, but the second episode has me in for the haul.

reply

Personally, I feel that this is my replacement Perry Mason. I get that kind of vibe from the pacing and scene locations. You know, half the show is investigating, and half is courtroom drama. The client is usually (so far) deserving of redemption, even though they may seem like a less-than-stellar character (at first). The second episode is, to me, particularly reminiscent of the Perry Mason style, albeit with lots high tech grafted on.

reply

Oh please, dont even mention the great late Perry Mason in the same sentence as this hollywood fantasy Bull****

I think this show will get old really quick. Every episode will be the same. Mock jury, sceptical lawyer of the client, "not guilty!" hurrah!

reply

Oh, c'mon now. Perry Mason, while certainly entertaining, was as cliché as it could be. He never lost a case and more than not, got the guilty party to break down on the witness stand through his "brutal" cross examination - week after week after week after week etc.

reply

one episode in so far and cant shake the idea that this show is mimicking Lie To Me or maybe even House, by having one central smart character with know it all attitude. but either main actor here is not as good as Hugh Laurie and Tim Roth or just material is not rich enough to pull it off

reply

I like it too. Seems to have likable enough characters, a decent premise and heaps of story potential and that is what I thought most of us viewers would look for. Yet we seem to have a whole lot of folks out there that want to be instantly dazzled so shows with potential don't get a chance to grow and find their niche or groove anymore.
