Where did Izzy come from, I didn't even know he was married and divorced.

While the episode provided the answers, they did seem complicated.

We learned she was a mothering, controlling perfectionist. It wasn't clear if her pregnancy was Jason's, because his input about the miscarriage seemed distant and detached. She didn't want to deal with that tragedy by being head-shrinked, and have her 'flaws' exposed raw. She just wanted to mourn, with Jason by her side.

Jason had his obsession, too, psychoanalyzing everyone he encounters. Despite her pleas, he didn't stop. It's like he was a Star Trek sci-fi creature that feeds on primal emotions, and sensed them bubbling beneath the surface of Izzy.
