The tagline made me feel physically abused..

No really, I feel angry!

reply

No seriously, dramatic much? You only cheapen physical abuse when you claim that a show tagline is akin to physical abuse.

reply

Grow up, idiot

You need a therapist if you are that easily upset

reply

The tagline made me feel physically abused..

why?

Do they still call it an elevator when it goes down?

reply

Can someone please remind me what the tagline was?

reply

He'll Get You Off

The reaction to it in some quarters make me despair for society. Either some people don't understand what a double entendre is, or are looking for attention.

Thanks! I think the tagline is rather hilarious. Somehow I keep imagining church lady's reaction to it! "Well isn't that special."

reply

that's not a double entendre, if you say that in a court room, you know exactly what's meant, if you say it in the bed room you also know what it means, a double entendre is when you say something anywhere that can be taken 2 ways.

Do they still call it an elevator when it goes down?

reply

considering that the meaning one takes it as is truly up to interpretation no matter where it is said, double entendre fits

the boat pulls up to the pier, it's on fire, the woman is screaming "the boat is too far away from the pier, I can't get off", 2 life guards come running to the pier, throw her a rope and yell to her, "grab onto the rope, we'll pull you in and GET YOU OFF, now if you call that a double entendre, then you have a sick mind

Straw man argument. Your boat-on-fire argument is not relevant.

In the context in which the tagline was used (which is: on an advertisement poster in combination with the picture of a handsome actor, as promotion of a new show that the intended public didn't yet know what it was about), that tagline was definitely a double entendre, designed to make the public curious.

a double entendre is when you say something anywhere that can be taken 2 ways.
Not true. Or was this meant as a double entendre joke? (in which case it would still be untrue.)

Definitely a double entendre. No big deal.

exactly....someone just feels the need to argue a moot point for some odd reason

reply

thanks for joining the moot argument for whatever odd reason.

Why do you constantly have the need to make things an argument? FFS, do you ever post without being an absolute douchewaffle? Just wonderin' 

no

Do they still call it an elevator when it goes down?

The question was rhetorical
