Not much journalistic investigation went into this documentary

If you're going to tell a story that's based on a real event, you need to dig and ask tough questions to get authentic answers, to get at the truth.

From watching TREAD, it is clear that the townspeople of Grandy, Colorado have each other's back, yet their collective denials about the community's treatment of Marv Heemeyer seem a bit too convenient.
The director of this documentary only touches on the city workings and never pushes people on the claims they make. It is obvious that Cody Docheff verbally attacked Marv at the auction. Even the Thompson brothers readily admit that "Cody speaks his mind," after they deny Cody said anything to Marv, even though they weren't witness to the purported conversation. And the director also never follows up on the words and actions of the town board concerning the water-sewer district expansion. They only have someone saying that Ron Thompson can speak in a way that some people find offensive. What does that mean? What was said at that meeting and what caused Marv to start hating this town he wanted to live and prosper in? I want to know and the viewers want to know.

So many questions, so little investigative journalism.

Was Marv disturbed? No doubt. I don't question that but you have to ask yourself what drove a seemingly reasonable, personable, likeable and successful businessman over the boundary of sanity?

Unfortunately TREAD fails to explore the questions it poses and creates more questions that aren't followed up on.

The topic is fascinating, but I agree, it's not a well-made documentary. It's just people talking. No investigative work at all. And I'm not sure the re-enactments were necessary; at least the bulldozer parts.

Clear? I don't think there was anything remotely conclusive in this documentary. It was just he said, she said crap. I could not definitely tell whether he was legitimately getting screwed over or imagined a lot of it.The only that was clear was he had almost no argument for being sooo against the concrete factory.Dust? Is he serious?
