The studio is glad there was! $245m from a $60m budget in this day and age of big-budget flops is a good day.
Millions of parents, including me, were also grateful. Something new for the kids to see, which us parents are also familiar with.
But I also thought of some close friends who are cat lovers... they loved this movie too. Lots of cat-specific stuff in it.
(Being a dog-lover myself, Odie was the more interesting character.)
It's for the kids. Let it go.
