They seemed pretty big so not sure why Norah and Emily couldn't of shared a pod at the end?
If they really wanted to go down the 'sacrifice my life for yours by giving you the pod' then at least make them so small that 2 could not of possibly fitted inside?
They are designed for one person they only have enough air etc to support one person you can't just make a tiny pod it needs to support all shapes/sizes of people.
The thing you should be moaning about is how she didn't even try to fix one of them for an engineer she gave up way to easily she could of switched out parts from other ones that was not functioning.
Whilst i agree on your reasoning and the fact she should of looked to see how it could be fixed, i feel that you'd be most likely to try rather then just stay behind.
Natures instinct of survival means you'd think lets go for it, it would only be a few minutes less oxygen and being the nature of an escape pod i doubt they would have exactly the correct amount of oxygen for the ascent to last just that journey to the surface and calculated that in case of emergency and the thrusters failing that they would given you more which probably would carry 2 people.
It's not only about oxygen its about pressure and other science.
but I do sort of agree the two women could of gone in one I expect both don't have much weight on that side of things still would of been a tight fit they may look big at times but others times not so.
I think most of the errors in the film are just to drive the plot we could pick at a lot of them the worst is the oxygen levels in the suits.

I also don't remember but was there a reason why the escape pods seemed to be like miles away from every one instead of being all over the place like a typicqal life raFT WOULD BE?
It is explained at the beginning when you see her running for her life and again they discus it when they all meet up with the captain.
From what I remember that desk was destroyed/sealed off only the location they was currently in was left which is why they had to leave even that was unstable plus they had no communications to surface.
I think there was escape pods on each floor level but the survivors was closer to the bottom and the top decks where all destroyed or flooded so the only remaining ones was where the actual drilling was taking place which why they had to walk so far to get to them.
If she hadn't stayed behind to active reactor meltdown none of them would have made it b/c the Cthulhu knockoff sent his baby monsters to catch the pods.
she didn't know this until after Emily had left. I think the real reason they did not share a pod, is simply because the life-support only supports one person - even if there would be room for more.
