Because he told you you aren't getting the part you're not in love with him anymore? He even told her its his daughter who doesn't want her not him and she still was like "But you're the director!". Wow that really made me sour on Ruth, because of a dumb part in a movie she wont be with him now.
shareAnd he was actually doing the right thing by being up front, if he had not told her then she found out after they had gone back to his room for a bit of horizontal jogging it would have been way worse.
So yep nice piece of writing for the show there in setting more character build for Ruth and making us viewers think differently of her, which also put Sam in a different light as well. That whole bit for Ruth really started when she decided to hang back and wait for Sam (and more so by leaving the bar with him) rather than heading back to Vegas to fulfill her commitment to Sheila...so kudos to the writers for that.
Bear in mind, there was meant to be a season 4 of this which is now not going to happen.
I assume this was just meant to be a glitch in the road, and Ruth was meant to eventually get her man. Ruth travelled a long way for an audition which could be her big break, and which she assumed was a formality. So was disappointed. This was probably meant to be a row which was eventually resolved.
There were a few storylines like this that were left unresolved, sadly.
