(SPOILER) Why did only Jonas get the effects from extensive travels?

Y'know the extreme scars / burns on his skin, while other characters looked totally fine... Claudia, Martha, even the priest (Hanno) and the unnamed trio whom also travel very often.

Yeah I was waiting for some horrible accident. I thought it was going to happen when he got a lightning bolt to the arm.
