What was up with those old ladies?

I just didn't get why that old woman opened the door. She was thinking how thankful and proud she was of her sister (but with some obvious bitterness), then next thing you know she's opening the door? That was confusing and annoying. Just wondering if perhaps something was merely lost in translation there.

reply

They were sisters.

The sister that died first, as the other one mentions, always helped others, never cared about herself (pretty much the opposite of the main character).

And she died because of the other f_ckers who only cared about their own well-being/survival.

I guess she didn't want to be around such sh_tty people, and as such she told them to go f_ck themselves by opening the door and letting them all die.

Chances are, due to their, that the sisters only had eachoter and nobody else in their lives, so yeah.

Fine, fine, I'll leave! But first I'm going to bother these peanuts! Hmm? Yes? Hmm? HMM?

That was Karma at its finest :) Too bad that executive a-hole reached the bathroom before the zombies could get him...however, he does get his comeuppance later on!

lac925, i just wish we got to SEE the villain corporate guy/zombie meet his ultimate end. we see the main hero guy throw him/them over the railing and that's it. that villain guy was so vile that i really wanted to see him go SPLAT! lol.

reply

I almost started throwing *beep* around in anger when the elder sister died, I mean I was still in shock over the cool hunky guy getting bitten and then they let the poor lady die?!

I was so glad when she decided to go "*beep* it" and opened the door.

reply

It was a pretty lame comeuppance. He should have died a horrible awful death. That's the only part of the movie that I didn't like.

reply

The people refuse to open the door. They kill her sister.

reply

I didn't get why she was just standing there (and smiling too) wtf?

reply

That was really stupid, she could´ve easy reached the door in time.
I understood it like she didn´t want to live in this world of egoism, hatred and violence anymore.

reply

She want to get rid of " bunch of sh*tty people" especially the ugly middle aged selfish jerk.

The people who acted that way were scared, they didn't want to risk infection to the whole group just to save a few.

Bitch please. Everyone that was alive at that point had already seen how quickly/instantly someone would turn into a zombie when bit.

It was pretty clear that the main group trying to get in wasn't infected, or else they would've been able to see it right away.

reply

It was an extreme case of group think. Which still to me their behavior was understandable.... I just don't understand why the lead didn't think to show them none of them were bitten.

reply

With their cuts and blood flying all over the place the movie was actually pretty inaccurate, they SHOULD have been infected. I'm sure they had enough scrapes from nails and the such. I've wrestled with creatures bigger than myself, there are always* scrapes, and add that to the fact they are ACTUALLY trying to get at you... it should have been like 28 days later, Dawn of the Dead or even Resident Evil. Also, the pregnant woman, there is ZERO chance her child would have survived that ordeal, I can't believe humans/male writers/creators and audiences believe that. Like everybody needs to talk to women about their lives more often, we are so used to being 'ignored' about health issues and reproductive rights that no one has a clue about basic birthing.. Christ.

reply

It wasn't that bad, just the luggage climbing part was a bit ridiculous (for the pregnant lady).
In such situations, pregnant or not, you still fight for your life and do things out of adrenaline rush.
But you're right, noticed the same as well hehe

reply

logic doesnt always win out in extremely high stress situations where emotions fly about. The executive guy acted with strength and authority, and smaller people fell in line. People are humans are social animals, and not many are leaders. Couple that with the earlier statement about logic in stressful situations... and you get a lot of people making bad decisions. Theres plenty of examples of this in modern history, shoot even on national scales

reply

They reminded me of the old cricket guys from The Lady Vanishes.

reply

Ha! Yeah.

reply

That's an old reference I did not expect to see here. But you're right about them resembling the two cricket-obsessed guys hah.

reply

She wasn't in the right state of mind honestly... she was in shock and emotional duress. Maybe she was mad because she was one to "survive" while her better sibling died so tragically? Could be survivor's guilt.

reply

I saw the movie and never understood why she opened the door, from the little I understood she said how kind and caring her sister was and she really was as she sacrificed herself for the rest of the passangers...and basically the sister undid her last act of kindness by allowing the zombies in - so basically she made her sisters kind selflessness become worthless.

For me she was as bad as the business man wgo fed at least 5 people to the zombies to prolong his pathetic existence.

reply

The elder sister sacrificed herself to save the few people in her group, by letting the them go first, only to be *beep* over by people at the front blocking the door. And like the other poster said, the younger sister probably has no one else to live for, she mentioned something like "Why keep living only to suffer?", then she called those selfish people "A**HOLES" and opened the door, probably to avenge her dead sister.

What I do not understand is, how is this so difficult to comprehend? The plot is pretty straight forwarded.

reply

I wasn't too happy with that scene where the elder sister just stood there and took several seconds to nod her head and smile rather than try to run. I guess you gotta set it up for the next few dramatic scenes right...

Also, was that scene supposed to indicate that she had the foresight to sacrifice herself since she will not make it to the door, and trying to run will just risk not being able to close the door? She did let the little girl and pregnant woman go first so that's a tough call.

I like how when the men rushed through the door, the women don't rush in with them immediately. I guess not all Koreans are professional gamers with cat-like reflexes.

reply

obviously the elder sister gave up her survival chance only because those who refused to open the door are more "zombie" than real zombie. Then she chose the other side of the train cabin. The younger sister figured out afterwards so she opened the door to join her sister and let others die.

it's quite brave for both sisters.
