streaming on tubi-tv - free ad-based service

it appears that under the silver lake was added to tubitv's streaming service on the 1st of this month.

seems odd, since most of tubi's catalog is dominated by no-budget slashers that were filmed over a weekend in rural alabama. i've certainly never seen a new or newish, fairly prestigious film by an acclaimed director just pop up there. i guess the distributors have no hope that this thing will make any money through a theatrical release & are just putting it out there for all to see.

anyway, i'm watching it this afternoon. very curious to see how this will play.

I actually think tubi is decent for what it is..It has some good classics and several good films from the last several years. Even with cable, Amazon, Netflix and some back door film viewing methods I can still find content on it from time to time.
But Under the Silver Lake is not available for me. What country are you from?

Oh wait..I remember now that I started watching this on another format months ago...and couldn't follow through.

i'm in canada. perhaps it's not available in the u.s. since it was just released to vod services there.

i'm not bashing tubi. i watch it all the time & think it's a great service, but, at least in canada, it very rarely gets any sort of notable new releases. it has a smattering of interesting older films, & a lot of low budget newer ones. i really enjoy picking through their catalog & trying to find the diamonds.

for whatever it's worth, i enjoyed silver lake a great deal. it's been a fairly divisive film, & some critics like mark kermode have treated it like a bit of a punching bag, but i thought it was great fun.
