Better than expected

I don’t know why it’s slow low rated on IMDB, but it’s not bad. 5-6 /10 is more reasonable. It’s probably a case of viewer expectations vs. what is delivered. This is a creepy, dark horror film, almost psychological at times and certainly very humorless. If you expect quips or Scream-like “horror” you won’t find it here. The atmosphere, from start to end, is relentlessly dark, moody and at times surreal.

It is more along the lines of It Follows, I think, than It, or Scream, or Saw.

slender man is not great and has flaws but it is a competent film. The acting is fine. Cinematography is a bit muddy and dark but fine. The storyline is standard fare, and frankly, I enjoyed it a lot more than Badabook, which had the most annoying kid actor.
