Doesn't make sense, even for a suspension of disbelif sci-fi series.

Some of those people died for a reason, due to overdoses, catastrophic brain injuries etc and in once case, Marcy, had a significant brain function abnormality before stroking out, or having an aneurysm due to smacking her head.

Yet a new consciousness takes over at the moment of death and all of a sudden the host body hasn't got a problem anymore?

How's that work exactly?

Well, as a former mentor used to explain it, every miracle cure begins with a misdiagnosis. ;-)

It doesn't work. It is a silly concept.
They writers should have found another way to justify this crap.

1. Is there any show you do like?
2. If you do like a show, you should maybe hang out in that forum?
3. What a complete shock you don't like this show either. 

1. Many. And as for "Time traveling" I like this season's "Frequency".

IMDB forums are not for people who adore shows or films without question, it is for discussion, critique, attacks, defenses and for praise. If you want only the last one go to the fan club of the film/show you want to praise.

Agreed

It makes no sense that they would take over people who were victims of violent crime after they had suffered massive physical damage. It would make more sense for them to take over people who had accidental deaths and just avert the accident moments before it happens, or take over people who committed suicide and avert the suicide moments before they do the deed.

But it is easier to reform a brain which has been beaten into a puree first. ;-)

As they are 500 years into the future, lets just think about what has happened technologically over the last 50 years with just electronics, going from discrete components devices to everything on a microchip. Of course these are inanimate objects and the human brain is way more complex and random in its construction. Still, stuff is being done today which we never dreamed would be possible when I started as a scientist 35-40 years ago. For all we know, they might actually be able to pull this off in a couple of hundred years.

'Pop starting'. growing up on the farm we had a tractor that would occasionally 'glitch' and refuse to start... the solution was to park it in the shed on the hill... if it started it started, if not you push it down the hill (hopefully with help) and while it was coasting you flip the appropriate switches and hope, and by the time you run out of incline, the engine had turned over...

yes, the people took assorted trauma, but the new mind is 'leaping in' as they are coasting down hill, and instead of them stop when they run out of incline, they are activating neurons that get it to restart...

we are seeing the aftermath with Phillip having a physical dependency on drug and Marcy's condition causing seizures...

but Carly and Trever were both 'simple' concussive Trauma... in theory a Trained Doctor, on site in short order could have revived them... their deaths were only permanent because of the environment in which they occurred (domestic abuse, and underground fight club) so an outside event like being taken over by a mind from the future prevents that head injury from allowing the heart to stop beating

The first episode never states exactly how the hosts would have died, from what I saw Marcy, Carly and Trevor would have died from having the snot beaten out of them but the critical blows never happened because their killers (Marcy's attackers, Carly's ex-bf and Trevor's opponent) stopped what they were about to do while the main characters were rolling around on the floor clutching their heads and screaming.

As for the host body not having a problem, this doesn't seem to be the case with Marcy as the profile the people from the future read was a fabrication and she will have problems in the future as the brain she jumped in to is still damaged.
If the peeps from the future had known that then Marcy would likely never have been chosen as a suitable candidate, just like the police officer who had the heart attack.
