I don't like the director at all

Well, just for fun, think of the director as God. Imagine having the power to change history in the form of man changing the planet. Obviously, there are a number of geologic and cosmologic events outside the power of man and likely the only one they attempt to alter is the impact of the 2016 meteorite, but you could still have a lot of fun mucking about with other stuff, alternating between using science and religion to advance or retard an agenda. As a franchise, I could easily see many versions of this show that were set in different parts of mankind's history so as to alter some critical event in the right direction. Even people like Hitler were somewhat ordinary individuals who rose out of obscurity to cause great impacts. Was Hitler in fact a traveller whose efforts eventually caused the greatest period of advancement in human history? If it weren't for war, only 1 out of 10,000 of us would currently exist in the present, and would likely be picking up nuts off the forest floor for dinner tonight or risking life and limb trying to take down that buffalo. War truly is the mother of all invention, like it or not.
