Canucks just don't have the budgets US have available. Hence, bunch of unknown actors. But they pull it off this time. The actors are a bit weak, but the good script makes up for it. Good luck with this show. It has good potential!
I find the show very compelling actually. Very fast paced (ep 7 was the first one that kind of felt.. longer), but with enough restraint and details that make you feel the characters, the narrative.. The actors are just fine (subdued humour is very refreshing), I especially like the young creaky-voiced Trevor and his delivery. The budget is a non-issue, they make do excellently. Somehow, although there's a weekly focus or a mission, the show doesn't have that slumpy procedural vibe, (unlike the vast majority of sci/fi shows I've seen in the last couple of years). I just hope that the writers will keep it up, at least for a while.
Vancouver seems to be the home base for Sci-Fi these days. Haven't you always wondered why every planet that SG-1 team visited looked very similar to the area just north of Vancouver? I suspect that BW has in place 1, 3, 5, and 10 year story arcs depending on how the show is received.
Also, has it been explained what happens to the people in the future when their consciousness is transferred. Is that the end of them then, or can some make multiple trips back. I haven't seen any current characters refer to "the last time I came back" like whats his name did in 12 monkees. That was such a great scene in the movie when she saw his picture in the WW-I book. Total twilight zone moment.
My Chimp DNA seems to have lost its password temporarily. Sluggr-2
Hear, hear for for Granville Island's Hollywood Annex. great to see the SG alum still churning up cool SciFi from the banks of the Fraser River. Way to go, eh.
