Wish this had a bigger budget

US network shows like Timeless are not even 1/10th as good and have probably 10x the budget. Imagine how much better this should could've been (visions from future, better effects, locations) if this had more money.

I actually like it because it hasn't got over the top effects. As for seeing the future I like it just how it is, their future is happily in my imagination! I think Travelers is perfectly fine as is. Timeless and Frequency are lighter viewing that's why in my opinion Travelers is far superior better dialogue, perception and imagination.

Welcome to the 21st.

I would say more often than not that a big budget becomes a distraction, where better becomes the enemy of "good enough." I think one of the better shows out recently was "The Booth at the End" and it had a budget probably measured in the thousands of dollars ;-) . This show falls into the moral/philosophical type of sci-fi were special effects are but a minor component of the story line. I was watching T-1 recently with my son and lord was it horrible in quality compared to T-2 or or even any recent low-budget sci-fi production, but the message of T-1 was way more than the special effects, whereas something like Transformers is nothing but the special effects.

i also prefer T1, a tv series done in the future of t1 would be awesome. they could even use the actor of 12 monkeys, and the actress who play marcie to play sarah

Your praise for The Booth at the End reminded me that "a bigger budget" might indeed be what Travelers needs, but not for production.

The Booth might actually be a great show....but until you mentioned it, I had never even heard of it! How about a full-scale marketing/promo budget, to attract millions of new viewers?

Based on the initial reactions from Netflix viewers, Travelers MIGHT be able to organically grow into the mega-hit status it rightfully deserves. But the faster they help increase widespread awareness, the sooner they can secure several follow-up seasons, as well as some pay raises for the cast and crew! LOL

Showing us the future wouldn't add much to the show. Miserable masses crammed into spartan shelters. Maybe some suit wearing people going topside, into a toxic windswept desert as far as the eye can see. Skeletons of high rise buildings sticking out of the sand as an added touch. Scorched Earth. We've seen it all before. The real strength of this show is in its characters, their struggles, their believability. None of them are one-dimensional. Each Traveler has done some things that make them look like selfish pricks, and things that showed real selflessness and compassion for the innocent. Very much like real people. We've all done things we're proud of and things we're not so proud of.

This is a story about ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances, being asked to make extraordinary sacrifices. Some extra budget would be nice if season 2 is set to include more future tech, but the major effect sequences of the first season (the antimatter explosion at the plant, the plane crash and stasis field, etc.) were done quite well. They don't necessarily need it.
