Why was Marcy Naked a lot in EP1?

I was wondering about this as well but then decided that it was done for two reasons. One may have been been to show the difference in attitude toward several social norms in the future (e.g. Mac's revulsion at the idea of eating meat). The second was to demonstrate David's basic decency by his reaction, as he can see this was not done to provoke or temp (he is still thinking of her as an innocent).

It repeats itself in the last episode, after her re-boot, when she again walks around with her blouse undone, when despite having slept with her the previous day, David realizes she sees him as a stranger now and feels uncomfortable. Besides it allows her to understand that they were in fact closer than she was told by the team and adds a nice touch of humor to the scene.

People crammed into overcrowded barracks would tend to lose that sense of modesty. Males and females would change around each other, even use the same showers, all the way from childhood. It's not surprising she doesn't think twice about walking around naked. They probably warned her in training that things were different in the past, but internalizing a change like that takes time.

In the future clothing is optional.
