Protocol one to six

Can you please post here all the protocols they have to fallow?

reply

Can you bother to look at the existing threads which will tell you all that we currently know about the 4 (of 6) that have been revealed.

Protocol 1 Be committed to the mission, whatever the mission.
Protocol 2 Leave the future in the past.
Protocol 3 Don’t save a life. Don’t take a life.
Protocol 4 ?
Protocol 5 Resume your host’s life.
Protocol 6 In the absence of a clear course of action, you await instruction from the director via messenger or traveler.

I would think #3 would be extremely difficult for those that jumped into cops.

or FBI agents. But then there's protocol 5: resume your host's life, so maybe if you kill someone as part of your host's job, it doesn't violate protocol 3?

reply

Definitely, it would be impossible, as part of the job, he would be in situations where he would likely have to save lives. It seems strange they'd put him in an FBI agent's body, knowing saving lives is apart of the job, yet it violates protocol #3.

reply

Was #4 about different teams not interacting?

reply

#6 is about teams only interacting if it is part of a mission.

I haven't heard anyone talk about protocol 4 yet. When MacLaren went to the blonde woman to ask her advice, they only brought up protocol 6, so I assumed that "wait for instructions" means don't talk to other teams while you're waiting, but that's kind of a stretch I think.

Maybe I missed a reference to #4, or maybe the "don't interact" is really a separate protocol and they just haven't said what number it is? It definitely seems to be a major violation...

Doing my re-watch now and SgT Hall explicitly states this to our team. I'm just documenting when and if they are said in the episodes. Curious if 4 slipped in somewhere and we all missed it, but the second time through really adds to the first time at least in discussing all the loose/open ends from ep 12. Marcies talks about her brother and his night terrors in ep 4, which didn't leave an impression at first.

1/15/17 edit Rewatching ep 5 now. Trevor asks Phillips what his mom's name is, assuming 21st century mom, and Trevor says 2144, which I am thinking might be his future time mom's traveler ID #. Just a trivia tidbit.

Also, 20,000 people in a shelter designed for half that number. Shelter 41 collapsed when Phillip was "a kid."

And we don't know what mission was missed by the family team (no 5th member?) that met Mac in the yellow copter.

ep 6. Trevor says that Bloom has "been that way" for at least 100 years.

Just dropping in facts as I hear them again to answer questions along the way about discrepancies.

They're listed on the Showcase website...
1. The mission comes first.
2. Never jeopardize your cover.
3. Don’t take a life; don’t save a life, unless otherwise directed.
4. Do not reproduce.
5. In the absence of direction, maintain your host’s life.
6. No inter-team/deep web communication except in extreme emergencies.

Did you just make up #4?

reply

They are all listed and explained in the Showcase site the OP listed:

Protocol #4 makes a lot of sense, but as far as I remember, was never mentioned in the episodes, maybe it was lost in editing.

reply

Or just as part of a pr stunt to get people curious about the show and going to the website for more shows to watch.

reply

Yes, 4 was never mentioned, and neither was 1 explicitly although it might have been inferred. Now, as a take-home assignment, we should come up with our additional protocols #7 plus as interested viewers.

7. Accessing the deep web must always require two people looking at the monitor. This would avoid Grace and her "end run" strategy to fix things.

8. The presence of bacon voids protocol 1 until it has all been consumed.

I'm SUPER surprised that Protocol 4 was never mentioned, when I looked it up on the site I was expected that one of the episodes by the end of the season would have it--especially with Marcy and her social worker (Dave?). And Mac will have to shut down his wife's desire to have kids forever.

I'm almost positive these will come up in Season 2, but I don't want to wait that long!

reply

Do not reproduce would make sense. Dead people should not have children.

On the other hand, if one resumes the life of a dead person, interactions could be made that would not allow offspring of a spouse or other family member.

Actually, resuming a dead persons life would have many implications that would ripple through time much more than the butterfly effect.

Yeah, frankly I don't see the difference in their alteration of history. Extending a person's life that was supposed to end is LITERALLY one of their Protocols, "Don't save a life" but apparently it's fine so long as another traveler takes their body?

Women have been known to get pregnant without the guys consent or knowledge by sabotaging the birth control method. I see her becoming preggo as a huge drama issue in season 2. The seeds have been planted, so to speak.
