question about the furniture

I'm confused by this - what was the shadiness/ethical dilemma? They did something with the brass to make the furniture look older than it was?

In replacing the brass edging, it was no longer an original antique. But then it was sold as an original, at a much higher price then they could have gotten for it in it's damaged state, or if they sold it stating that they brass had been replaced.

Thank you!

You're welcome. I was actually glad to see the character Chance have a problem with the deal; while he obviously needs the money the sale brought him, he still has the moral compass to know that it's wrong. I suspect his compass is going off kilter soon.
