Blackstone inhaling the gas- tribute to Blue Velvet?

Maybe I'm just too much of a David Lynch fan, but when I saw Blackstone inhaling the gas, the first thing I thought of was Dennis Hopper in Blue Velvet. Now Blackstone doesn't seem to be quite as bad as Frank Booth, but there are some similarities. Abusive to women, obsessed with control, heavily involved in criminal activities in their respective cities. I don't know. Might just be a coincidence.

When does he inhale gas! I watched the episode as soon as it could be downloaded. Maybe I watched it while I was too sleepy.

he took a knife to the chest, he has a collapsed lung, it was oxygen. does everyone here have alzheimers?

Well, yeah. Obviously the reason was different than Blue Velvet. I was just questioning whether or not the decision to show that scene (since there wasn't really any thematic necessity for the scene). Like I said, I was probably overthinking it.
