My theory re Jaclyn/Jackie
What if Jackie is the REAL personality, and Jaclyn is the split personality who comes out in times of stress?

shareWow, interesting. When she tells Chance that Jaclyn "does the books," I had to pause and ask, "Why?" Out of fear of being beaten? But then she's still complicit with her husband. The look on her face after Chance leaves her at the bus station was ominous. Kevin Sykes' (sp?) disappearance doesn't necessarily mean he's dead. Chance confessing everything to him was a very stupid thing to do. As Jackie reminded him in the hotel room, an honest cop is a "unicorn"--suggesting that she might already know something about his fate.
Hopefully, Sykes is alive, honest, and gets back to destroy the human trafficking.
Yes, Jaclyn doing the books struck me as odd too, given that she told Chance that she knew nothing about his nefarious business other than what she had overheard now and then on the phone. I have the fingers crossed that the "honest" detective is honest, but I fear for his safety!
After watching episode 8 i'm inclined to agree.
As the story has unfolded i began to believe that Jaclyn/Jackie was not who she said she was and that her whole story was a big lie. I couldn't figure out why though. I thought she and D were in cahoots to get rid of Raymond and were using Chance as a patsy.
I still don't know where this is going, but i do believe that Jaclyn/Jackie is no victim and that in the end a lot of people are going to be left in her wake. If i didn't already know there is a season 2 i would've guessed that Chance would end up dead or in prison. Or that this whole story was a delusion and he was still in a psych lock up.

Yes, it is becoming clear that Jaclyn/Jackie is not the victim here. Another thing I just thought of that lends weight to my theory is that she said her husband, whom we assume probably knows her better than anyone else, always calls her Jackie. Is this because he knows that's the real her?
Someone else on this board posited that it was Jackie who killed the previous therapist, I'm starting to come around to this idea. Perhaps the hubby is threatening everyone off Jaclyn/Jackie because he is actually trying to SAVE their lives?
That's a possiblility. But why is he running a sex ring? Unless he's working under cover.

He can also be a dirty cop too. At the core of this I think he is just as smitten with Jackie/Jaclyn as Chance is; by warning the others off and saving their lives in the process he is actually protecting her from getting in trouble/caught, and possibly going to jail (thus leaving him)....
shareoooo i think you may be right
at least that makes sense
right now i don't know if i'm more annoyed with Chance or with his daughter

The daughter is just being a teenager, however annoying. Chance is intriguing - he knows exactly what's happening to him, yet seems to be powerless to stop....
shareAt least so far this teenage character isn't completely ruining the show by acting like a spoiled brat kid. Nothing worse than the teenage daughter Dana in first three seasons of Homeland. And I do think that the girl in this show is actually an above average actress.
I really like the actress too. And i liked the character to a degree because she seemed really believable. I like her relationship with her father, especially considering the divorce and the way she was dealing with her family falling apart.
But i just don't understand why she'd take off like that especially after being attacked once already. You'd think that would make her understand that she wasn't safe.

she will eventually make sense.
shareAfter episode 9 my theory of Jaclyn/Jackie has changed and i'm more confused than ever.
When the daughter said she saw Jaclyn where they were holding her i thought that she was definitely more involved in the sex trafficing. But then the scenes in the hotel room with Raymond totally changed that.
Now i'm guessing (out of the blue) that she somehow got involved with Raymond to find out about his operation to take him down, either by the feds or by some organized crime boss who wants to take over the operation. But she got in way over her head. I thought the story about him hitting her over the head when they were out on their picnic was part of her psychosis/lie, but now i see that he is quite ruthless or crazy himself, so i don't doubt something like that happened.
But i still don't think her story adds up at all.

Interesting theory :) . I'm still inclined to believe that Jackie/Jaclyn has a mental illness, and has connected with a series of men to "rescue" her. I'm starting to think that there is no bigger picture now, just both Chance and Raymond hanging tight for the ride, totally obsessed with keeping her. All the rest of the drama (with D for example) is just a byproduct of that...
