I'm bored

I love Hugh Laurie but I'm half way through the first episode and I couldn't take anymore Chance. Lol I switched to Netflix to binge on House instead. Lol

reply

I can't take seriously a person that uses 'Lol' 2 times in a single sentence. That's a very good case of low intelligence, further strengthened by your incapability to argue your point of view.

reply

sounds like someone had a stock response waiting to use it as soon as possible, regardless of its relevance to my original post. Also, I don't recall specifically requesting your approval of my post, my opinion or how I chose to deliver it. So... as you were. Oh and lol AND lol!!

reply

You didn't ask for my approval... I was just criticizing your opinion just like you were criticizing this show... Freedom of speech, remember?

Judging by your reaction, you most likely expected a response like mine. Why don't you get your head out of your ass and try to criticize a show in a pertinent way if you're going to do it at all. Or are you just incapable?

reply

lol dude you're hilarious. Why are you so angry regarding a fictional show, a fictional character and an innocent post on an IMDb message board lol. smh What a peaceful life you must have to where something so insignificant can get you THIS upset. bless your heart

reply

THIS.. upset?

I am not upset. I am just harsh with stupid people.

And you proved once again you're incapable.

Well, have a good day and enjoy your ignorance.

reply

😂😂 peace✌

reply

If this show bores you and you change over to House, go post there. It doesn't bore us.

reply

Awesome, another writer on show! lol If only this message board was a free space for everyone, even those with differing opinions to our own, to voice their opinion. Hmmm what a concept. That way, people wouldn't take it so personally when someone states and OPINION they don't agree with. Too bad the creators of this board dropped the ball and we're all forced to agree. Lol smh

reply

It is indeed weird how butthurt some people are about someone else's opinion about a tv show.
I am watching the show and due to most of my favorite shows being on hiatus, I'll probably continue to watch it.
However, it aint that great.
I get the appeal of a slow told story.
But you cant just create setups for suspense and then just put in fillers for hours in between where nothing really happens.
The show isnt very thrilling when nothing is happening, and most of the time nothing is happening that would move the plot ahead, at least nothing that you realise, without knowing the finale it is leading to beforehand.
Lengthy meta dialogues, the usual side stories that may or may not be interwoven into the main plot at some point - standard recipe of a lot of shows that dont deliver in the end.
Like I said, since there is a little competition right now, it's on the watchlist, but really it's one of those shows you just keep watching to know the end. And that's always a sign of mediocre quality at best.

reply

great analysis. ironically I felt this same way just in the first 35 mins. :) So it's good to know it's not just me. I may give it another shot the next time i'm waiting for new releases on netflix and need to kill some time. I do love Hugh Laurie!

reply

I agree with you...not about the show being boring (I love the show, mostly because of SHOULD-BE-KNIGHTED Hugh Laurie), but how your opinions are being ridiculed in no kind terms. As you correctly pointed out, this space is for expressing opinions, even if they differ from the majority's. You have every right to express them. A healthy debate/argument is always fun, because one can scrutinise and understand a show or any other creative product in ways that we would, otherwise, be oblivious to.

Demonstorm78 had a point, but didn't make it in a palatable fashion. Meaning, if you could have been specific about the particulars that bore you, then this might have been a different conversation. Anyway, water under the bridge.

For me, the fact that this show is so heavily centred around Hugh Laurie's character is the biggest draw. I'm so invested in the actor/character that even an idle 5-10 minutes seem tension-riddled. I see these uneventful moments as the noose being tightened oh-so-gradually around the finale/twist. Sure it might be predictable in the end, but journey seems to be fun. Also because I do enjoy such slow-paced noir-ish thrillers, and I also enjoy Bourne-paced thrillers. So I guess it can be a matter of acquired taste.

Oh, and Ethan Suplee. What a revelation. Between Laurie and Suplee, the show gives us its best moments.

Was the OP sparking healthy debater after bailing after 15 mins and lol'ing? What did they not like about it? what about the first part you saw made you bored? answers to these questions create healthy debate.
Lets call trolling what it is here.

reply

Sure, you're entitled to call it whatever you want. And that's exactly what I meant by my post. You have the right to express your opinion, but I was more focused on how you go on expressing your opinion about someone else's opinion. A clear example is your own post in reply to mine. A civil, eloquent and ordered fashion of making one's argument is always a sign of an inclination towards a healthy argument, which in my opinion, some of the responses to the OP's lacked.

Also, I don't think a true-blue troll would be capable of the calm and composed responses OP had in reply to other posts ridiculing his "lol-ing" and "bored" comments. And I do agree with you that the OP could have infused more relevant content in his post, but just because he didn't, doesn't make him a deserving candidate for needless ridicule.

Case in point:

That's a very good case of low intelligence, further strengthened by your incapability to argue your point of view.

On a lighter note, I think the OP was so bored with the show that he didn't even bother to be specific about why. Of course, I disagree, but am not going to stoop to hurling abuses and calling names. I grew out of it about 10 years ago. :D

reply

The real troll here was demonstorm. Did he/she spark a healthy debate? Did he offer an counter comment? No, he just slammed the OP, called them stupid and ignorant, and moved on. That seems to be the, ahem, definitive definition of a troll.

Unlike the OP, I have watched the whole show, and I'm a bit bored too. Slow moving doesn't bother me (I am morbidly obsessed with Rectify, for example), but this is a psychological thriller that isn't very, well, thrilling. Nice try, less than terrific execution.

reply

thanks for not biting my head off! :) i respect that others like the show, especially because of Hugh Laurie. And I love a good spirited debate but when I originally posted; it was really just a quick, in-the-moment venting and that's all. That's why I created my own post and didn't put it on someone's positive post about the show. I wasn't looking for a fight even though I got one. lol

great analysis for the show though. Ironically my favorite type of movies are actually documentaries so I don't mind a slow, non-action-packed story that you actually have to pay attention to (in non-documentary films). But I do need an attention-grabber at the beginning and I think that's what this was missing for me.

I may give it another shot the next time i'm waiting for new releases on netflix and need to kill some time. I do love Hugh Laurie!

thx for the pleasant response.

reply

The guy's name is Demonstorm. Demon storm! What did you expect from someone named Demonstorm, butterflies and kittens?

reply

Oh please, it's internet. There's no freer space. You have right to your opinion. They have their right to be a-holes. They aren't forcing you to anything, just like you aren't forcing anyone to be nice. You can't and neither can they. Stop being a professional victim and ride your high horse into the stable. Yes this is indeed personal, because I agree first episode was somewhat boring and am only replying to you this way because I don't like your personality.

Well said !...I agree, I mean why do some people even bother posting something about a show that bores them?..that says a lot about them than the show and they wonder why people react to their dumb post.

Can't tell if I like this or not but four shows in and I'm pretty tired of Hugh Laurie having an unexplained 'haunted' look in his eye.

reply

Yeah, the people jumping on you because you dared to post something that wasn't slobbering praise are ridiculous. And criticizing text speak on a TV message board? LOL

Anywho, I was really loving the show. I will definitely finish it because the story has me intrigued but the past couple of episodes have seen a dip in quality for me. It's gotten a bit boring. I'm hoping for some payoff twists but if you were already bored in the first episode, you most likely wouldn't have made it this far.

I agree, this show is super boring so far. I'm probably going to give a second episode a chance, but I don't have any high hopes for it. Hugh Laurie is better than this type of material. If anyone is looking for a really good show to watch, you should try "Casual" on Hulu, it's fantastic.

reply

thats exactly what i did. started watching house all over again. not because i was bored though. but because there are not enough episodes of chance to binge watch yet

oh an i almost forgot LOL

reply

I am bored too LOL n LOL plus LOL again 😁

reply

Just watch the news. You won't be bored - sick maybe. If you are a Laurie fan, you could also watch Night Manager.

Chance is an interesting series with a great location and the Vertigo premise. Trying to figure out how close they will come to Vertigo plot but he is already spiraling.

reply

No you wasted more time complaining.
Stop hating, and go back to Netflix. This is a safe space for fans of the show. Be gone hater.

reply

To be fair I found the first episode to be a little slow but after the 2nd episode I was hooked, love this show and really glad I stuck with it, i'm five episodes in now and loving every minute.
