Finally he has a role that doesn't leave him looking like a simp. He's muscle and brain. Hope he breaks out of the old mold and continues to do great TV.

Agreed! D's dialogue is evil genius and Chance doesn't get where he's going with it. We don't either, but it leaves you wanting more and it's a very "think" show. Chance is NOT the confident House.

Agreed, he steals every scene he's in and that means something considering he is always together with laurie, they are both great. Any body else getting kind of a Tyler Durden Vibe from him? I know the Private Eye looked at Hugh while he was harassed by Ethan, implying they were both physically there, but he seems as supernatural as Tyler with his extensive knowledge and philosophic musings.
Funny, I actually hope I'm wrong :D I found this kind of story arc to be a popular method to get around really explaining stuff. I'm not saying it can't be done very effectively, but I would actually prefer if D wasn't just his "badass side".
You're right. It's been done before as the alter ego, lots of times. But something is going on there. D is too over-the-top and would be so noticeable to be working privately with House. D is pretty much right in-their-face, trailing them so closely. He is hard to miss. Time will tell. It also makes me want to go back and watch for more clues. I'm just sitting there watching and wonder WHY D and Chance aren't trying to be covert in any way.

I really hope not, Mr Robot is currently doing that, and probably better than any other show could.

I admit it was handled well, none the less I was extremely unsurprised. Not that they gave it away from the start, but I thought about this possibility right when I watched the third or fourth episode and was quite disappointed to be honest. It is done very well, but it still feels like a letdown to me because all the other stuff was much more original than other shows.
I don't remember which episode but it would have been the thrid or fourth, they were waiting in a car park, then a dude (later revealed as private detective) appears and is punched by D. He later praises Chance for giving him a hard look instead of breaking under pressure or something
The crack head with the fake baby in the doctors window reacted to D. He walked up, pulled the head off the baby and told her to leave, she looked at him and called him a piece of *beep* Then the baby head was put on the dashboard of the car. What do you think?
I thought House was more cocky than confident, unless it was his diagnostic ability. Dr. House really bugged me. What a horrible person, though I do like the dynamic about someone who is really good at their jobs being a total creep and troublemaker.
I LOVED House! I'm just so glad this is different...I was concerned before it started. This has a lot of promise. Hugh Laurie isn't the same person at all. But...this is about Ethan Suplee and this entire thread has been hijacked.

Hopefully, this might help a bit. I might not continue watching, due to the subject matter introduced at the very end of episode 4, but Ethan Suplee already deserves recognition at awards time. Thinking back to "My Name is Earl" makes me feel too old, but Suplee is fantastic in this!

Understandable, but I'm in it for the season. After "Earl", "Cold Mountain" and another role or two, Ethan was becoming the stereotypical big dumb idiot. He's so much more and I'm liking his character's growth.

Ethan Suplee's character in "Chance" is very unique. It's nice to see an odd looking person, not your typical underwear model or bodybuilder get a substantial role and do it well.
I shouldn't be posting this on the day before the U.S. Presidential election, but if a person is open-minded, he (or she) will be astounded at how brilliant self-taught outliers, like angry former military men, can be. I wish Episode 4 didn't get too dark for me to take. You can write fantastic psychological thrillers without descending into places too ugly to be entertaining.
Not to pry, but what precisely is too dark or ugly? I agree it has a very dark theme, but I remember Twin Peaks back in the 90' and that went to some SERIOUSLY dark and ugly places.
Twin Peaks was morally sick, masturbatorial, meaningless crap. David Lynch is the biggest 90's joke in cinema and proof of society's love of pretentiousness. He's the cultural "father" of people like Gillian Flynn. I continued to watch "Chance." The scene of forcing kidnapped women into prostitution and shooting them up with whatever drug was SERIOUSLY dark and ugly.
Man, I really hope it's not a Tyler Durden type scenario because it would make zero sense, but after tonight's episode where Chance talks about how he never believed in alternate personalities...I hope it's just a really elaborate red herring, because Hugh Laurie destroying three dudes in an alley because he thinks he's fat batman is just dumb.
Assuming that D is a real person, I'm thinking he was never with "the teams" though, It's looking to me like a revelation is coming that he's just a really sick individual, though dangerous as fugg and very capable.
HELL is the impossibility of reason... ...this forum is HELL.
For Real! I've seen him before in movies but him also with Hugh Laurie just made the show for me. Even in the more boring early 2 episodes. Thanks to both of them and which ever casting director chose them. (:
