Jack Torrance - spoiler
I perhaps thought Jack Torrance might have been redeemed somehow in this movie , somehow stepped into save his son at the end

shareMy wife says that wasn't Jack Torrance but a projection from the evil hotel. So it had no interest in saving Danny.
shareInteresting theory !
shareI also felt this way watching the movie. I also thought the director should have just used a actors arm in frame to show jacks protection. Instead of trying to imitate Nicholson's lighting in a bottle performance with a young actor. Just get Nicholson doing the voice and shoot around not showing the face. But what do i know im just a dude on a message board
shareYes!, in the books this is implied!
shareWas the end of the film drastically different from the book? I really liked this movie, but I am not too far into Stephen King’s works. Wondering if is worth a read
shareGonna be honest i don't remember wich events happend in the movie and wich happen in the book. Except that specific one of jacks spirit/essence helping his boy out . Im surprised more people don't mention it cause it left a mark on me. In general tho i enjoyed both books and the differences in tone/time between them.
Also i gotta mention kings sons short story loaded . Joe hill really wrote a great one there keep any eye out for that one
That’s fine. Thanks for recommending Loaded. I put that on the list of ones to read. I’ve been holding off on King’s larger works right now. I’ll give Loaded a read before hitting the big ones like The Stand or It.
